Coconut Oil Exfoliating Cubes with Ground Coffee and Spearmint Extract

These cubes are my new favorite way to wake up in the morning.  Gentle exfoliation and instant moisturizeation combined with the smell of fresh ground coffee and spearmint is beyond refreshing.  Even better…it takes about 30 minutes to make them, with about 3 ingredients.  So give this one a try and feel free to experiment with additional ingredients based on your skin type!

Coconut Oil Exfoliating Cubes with Ground Coffee and Spearmint Extract

  • 1/2 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh ground coffee
  • 5 drops vitamin E
  • 2-5 drops spearmint oil

Wet the coffee grounds and divide equally into 6 wells of an ice cube tray.  Melt the coconut oil for a few seconds in a double boiler and stir in the additional oils.  Pour the oil mixture equally over the coffee grounds and place the tray in the refrigerator.  Once firm, remove the cubes, place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to one month.

These cubes will gently melt on contact with warm skin, so you can use them dry as well as in the bath or shower.  If you’re prone to oily skin, follow with your regular soap or facial cleanser to remove any excess oils.  Additionally, if you have sensitive skin, use fine espresso grounds for a more delicate exfoliation.  Because these cubes contain natural oils, they are also excellent at removing make-up!
