The fluctuating temperatures and persistent dry weather have been killing the sensitive skin on my eyelids, causing (rather annoying) inflammation and flaking. When daily moisturizers still weren’t cutting it, I decided to get serious with an uber hydrating cucumber and coconut oil eye mask.
Cucumber and Coconut Oil Eye Mask
- 1/4 cup peeled and chopped organic cucumber
- 1-2 fresh mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- 1 drop lavender or chamomile essential oil
Place the cucumber in a food processor and blend until no large lumps remain. Pour the pureed cucumber onto a paper towel and gently press to absorb any excess liquid. Place the pureed cucumber back into the food processor, add the remaining ingredients and blend until thoroughly combined. Transfer the mixture into a resealable container and refrigerate until ready to use.
When preparing the mask, place one teaspoon of the puree onto clean cotton pads and allow them to rest for a minute or until the pads are slightly dampened. Lie down and gently press the cotton pads over your eyes to spread out the mixture. Leave the pads on your eyes for 20 minutes (or longer), then remove and gently rinse eyes with lukewarm water. Repeat as desired!
