I’m no stranger to working with flowers in the kitchen and after finding these beautiful dried rosebuds at the market, I’ve been shamelessly going to town on floral recipes.
I’m only two days into my week and I’ve been testing them out on anything and everything. My favorite so far is a rosebud simple syrup that I’ve been using to sweeten my tea, top my breakfast bowl and of course, bouquet my cocktails!
Rosebud infused simple syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 splash rosewater
- 3 tablespoons rosebuds
Heat the water, rose water, sugar and rosebuds in a small saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Turn the heat to low and simmer for about 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and strain into a resealable container. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Note: if you’re looking to add a bit of garnish to the syrup, add a pinch of crushed rose petals to the mixture once strained! Petal flakes are an instant way to dress up your beverages!
